Privacy policy

hall-rental.ca is run by Simple Is Good Inc. ("we", "us"), Pickering, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect through hall-rental.ca, why, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- When you send an enquiry to a hall: your name, email, phone number if you give it, and the event details you type in (event type, date, guest count, message).
- When you list or claim a hall: your name, email, phone, your role at the hall, and the hall's details.
- When you pay for a featured listing: your billing name and email. Card details are handled by our payment processor; we never see or store full card numbers.
- When you use the site: basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, kept in server logs. We use a small number of cookies to keep the site working and to block automated spam.
- About halls: listings are built from information businesses publish themselves, such as their business profiles and websites (name, address, phone, website, hours, ratings).
How we use it
- To pass your enquiry to the hall you chose, and to follow up if the hall doesn't reply.
- To confirm that people claiming a listing really run that hall.
- To run featured listings, send receipts and renewal notices, and keep accounting records.
- To keep the site secure and stop spam and abuse.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use renter enquiries for advertising.
Who we share it with
- The hall you contact. Your enquiry, including your name and contact details, goes to that hall so it can reply to you.
- Service providers who host the site, deliver email, process payments and block spam for us. They may only use the information to provide that service. Some are located outside Canada, mainly in the United States, and your information may be processed there.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and listing requests for up to two years, then delete them. Billing records are kept for as long as Canadian tax law requires, currently six years.
Your choices
- You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you.
- Halls can ask us to correct their listing or remove it from the directory.
- Halls can stop our emails at any time by writing to [email protected] with the word "unsubscribe". We act on requests within 10 business days.
Security
We use encrypted connections, restricted access and reputable providers to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we also keep only what we need.
